New grant from UNICEF Ukraine

2 February 2017

We are delighted to announce that HealthProm has been awarded a new grant by UNICEF Ukraine.

Equipping parents of children with disabilities to be effective partners in the development of Early Intervention in Eastern Ukraine’.

Local partners: National Assembly for People with Disabilities and Charity Fund Early Intervention Institute, Kharkiv

This intensive seven-month grant broadens and extends activities that HealthProm and partners are already carrying out through a project funded by the European Commission, ‘Strengthening the capacity of parent-led civil society organisations (CSO) to support the delivery of reforms that address the rights and needs of young children with disabilities in Ukraine'.  The new UNICEF grant will extend this work to a further three regions in Eastern Ukraine, including some conflict-affected areas. The two projects together will now cover a total of ten regions, including four in which the National Government is piloting the development of Early Intervention (Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa and Zakarpatia), four in which UNICEF is training practitioners to begin to deliver Early Intervention services (Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozhia, Donetsk and Luhansk), as well as Kyiv and Vinnitsiya.

This collective work will implement a range of initiatives to strengthen the capacity of parent-led CSOs to engage in policy related advocacy, to develop linkages through a national parents’ forum and to engage with the media and the public on issues related to disability.
