I’m Mariia Halat. Four years ago, I came to London with my two children and a single suitcase holding my whole life, leaving behind my family and my homeland.

While I had always been connected with the English language, integrating into real life was complicated. It was the British people who were those superpowers who lifted us up. My sponsors gave us incredible emotional support, and my colleague Diana believed in my passion to teach.

Then I joined the HealthProm community, where we met people who helped my children and helped me overcome stress.

Seeing so many people in need, I felt it was my turn to share my superpower with our Ukrainian community. At HealthProm I started teaching children English—first with "Grammar through Games," Project and now as a volunteer. I am more than happy to help everyone who needs my superpower to help lift them up.

It’s time to repay kindness with kindness. Every one of us has the ability to lift someone else up.
